In addition to our Advocacy Training Series, we provide individual coaching to strategically selected clients.


Our coaches engage in personalized sessions with social change leaders, aiming to increase their advocacy-specific skills, knowledge, and tools to successfully win on bold policy change. Collaborating with an Advocacy Rising coach ensures a consistent series of one-on-one meetings, practical guidance to refine your advocacy strategy and capabilities, assistance in implementing recommendations, and ongoing accessibility between scheduled sessions. The specific focus is customized to align with your unique circumstances.


Our Approach


  1. UNDERSTANDING YOUR CONTEXT: Recognizing the unique political landscape and organizational dynamics that advocates encounter, we start with better understanding your organization and political environment. Initial stages involve delving into your state or local context and thoroughly exploring the nuances of your organization. This could include observing your team in action, conducting surveys and interviews with staff and partners, and thoroughly researching your organization's past advocacy efforts. This research phase aids in pinpointing your team's primary strengths and opportunities, guiding the direction of our collaborative coaching efforts.
  2. SETTING GOALS TOGETHER: Our focus revolves around increasing the effectiveness of your advocacy efforts. We collaborate with you to outline a strategic plan to address the most significant hurdles hindering your progress, and unlocking the full potential of your team. Together, we establish clear goals for our coaching engagement and proceed to execute the plan.
  3. IMPLEMENTING CHANGE: Throughout our partnership, we provide actionable, context-specific advice. Beyond offering guidance, we remain actively involved in supporting you to execute the recommendations. Whether it's navigating a critical strategy decision, drafting a key policy document, preparing for pivotal coalition discussions, or ensuring the completion of action items, we stand by your side throughout the journey.
  4. BUILDING LONG-TERM CAPACITY FOR CHANGE: Our overarching objective is to empower you and your team to operate without us. We aspire to equip you with the mindset, behaviors, and systems necessary for sustained success, ultimately aiming for a scenario where our assistance is no longer required.


Getting Started


Advocacy Rising Coaching is well-suited for individuals who can affirmatively answer the following:

  • You hold an advocacy-focused role within an organization dedicated to advancing state or local policy change, such as:
  • An Advocacy, Policy, or Government Affairs Director or Manager;
  • An Organizer or Campaigns Director or Manager;
  • An Executive Director or other senior leader.
  • You aspire to embody an effective and equitable approach to advocacy within your organization.
  • You can commit to regular meetings with a coach and are prepared to implement action steps arising from coaching sessions.
